I recently bought one. It's actually really nice. Nice leather sheath. I'd say the sheath is worth $20 or $30 alone. Knife is nice, no sharp spots on the handle, nice and smooth.

So I bought this knife instead of a small hatchet for camping. With that said I haven't used it yet. I am here to tell you that putting a razor sharp edge on this beast is a challenge to say the least. I'm a free hand sharpener kind of guy and I spent hours on this blade because the bevel on the edge was garbage. It will shave now. I don't blame anyone. Its a well made knife for under $30. Seems like it will be very durable. The sheath is ok but I can tell it will fail at the belt loop first. I'm still going to give it 5 stars because I knew exactly what I was getting myself into when I bought it and so should you.

I purchased one for about $30, budk shipped it to me fast and I was impressed with it's workmanship; I then took it out back to chop small trees and it performed like an axe. I highly recommend this "Macho" blade, it's a real man's bowie!

Pound for pound (value for $), this is number ONE (maybe tied with TR77). I have 50 or so knives is my collection, ranging from $20 range to $100 range... This knife, coming in at $29.99, is absolutely right there with the best of my knives, built like a TANK, true full tang, 1/4" thick, beast of a brass guard, beautiful beak pommel, gorgeous classic bowie blade. This is a $100 bowie IMO. Is it perfect fit and finish? No. Did it come dull? Yes. Do I care? No. You can sharpen it, and any imperfections in symmetry or finish is overshadowed by its stubborn rugged beauty. If you like to beat on your knives, and if you like to split logs with a knife (batoning) rather than an axe, this is your prototype. I brought a bunch of big bowies on a camping trip, had a truck deliver a whole mountain of firewood to our site, and I ended up splitting it all with this knife exclusively, and I mean I was HAMMERING this thing through fat knots and impossible logs, it was abuse, no doubt, kept waiting for something to break, blade to warp, crack, something... nope, this thing is a rock. (Granted I had already wrapped my handle in paracord, for added comfort when chopping, so that probably guards against any loosening of scales or anything, but i don't know that it was needed). Long story short, to this day if someone asks what knife in my collection is not only one of my best knives but the most bang for your buck, it is this beast, no doubt. First off, the blade is dull when it arrives but after you get it sharpened, it becomes a valuable too! I live out in the Alaskan wilds and I personally use mine for chopping down brush and cutting meat. I even used it to help butcher out a bear that attacked me some time ago (No, I didn’t kill the bear with the knife, just butchered it with the knife) and it did the job alright, not perfect but at least it helped chopping bone and cutting ligaments. The sheath needs to be reinforced via sowing better string for the string used hold the loop that goes around your belt will break after a month. Other then that I still use mine and carry it with me wherever I go! Well worth it I think!

As a knife collector, I recently bought the Timber Rattler Outlaw Bowie Knife as my first purchase with this company. The package came quickly, especially considering all deliveries are taking excessive amounts of time during the Covid 19 pandemic. The sheath is thick and well made. The blade is full tang and came exceptionally sharp! There were some small imperfections like the guard not being perfectly symmetrical, and a couple minor imperfections in the handle. But this knife is still worth way more than $30! I would maybe care if it were a hundred or more dollars, but I couldn't ask for more with the price and the quality of this knife.

Had this for 6 years now and decided to give it a review. I'm attaching pictures as well to show the public what six years of hard abuse did to this. I sharpened it down to a razor edge the day it arrived 6 years ago and never sharpened it again. I've cut down small trees, split wood, chopped up oak, cedar, and pine, I've chopped up plastic and rubber, it's been dropped onto rocks, concrete, been left outside in the rain ice and snow and left sticking in mud many times. When I bought this it was only 19.99 and I've abused much more expensive bowies including gil Gibbons (TRASH for the price they brake easy) United and cold steel. This and only 7 others have stood up to my abuse. Make no mistake you can use this as a very very reliable throwing knife I've got several videos to prove it... that's when I found the ONE lie about it. The handle is NOT held together by all those "brass" pins. It's only held together by the top 3 skinny pins and the 1 bottom smaller pin. The top middle pin that's larger than the 3 outer tiny pins is for show and so are the 2 middle large pins. I beat the hell out of the handle and that's how I know. But it still holds together. Just dont abuse the handle and it will chop wood better than a hatchet. Thank you timber!!! Easy 5 stars.

I bought my TR outlaw about an year ago. Out of the box it had a dull edge but i got it fixed from a pro knife smith. I often take it out doors and have inflicted even some abuse on it but its holding on pretty well. Its big, heavy, well made good looking knife too. I would strongly recommend it because for that much money i dont think you are going to find a better knife

I bought this knife with no real expectations based on the price. Mine was both good looking and sharp. I have sharpened it only once. That was after I put it to work. I used it outside in place of a machete and my hatchet. I was extremely surprised at how well it worked. It's a good looking knife that is also a handy tool. I own many knives in all price ranges, but I really favor this one for outside use. The sheath is fine considering the price. I will probably make a new one for it later as is my habit, but if you are looking for a good outside knife that is really an all around tool then this is the one to get.

Really heavy knife. Very cool looking -- mine came looking almost exactly like the picture. Only issues I see with it are factory defects that are filled in with some sort of polish or resin (in between areas not sitting flush). This does not seem to be an issue, as the knife is really solid. Hopefully it stands up with use, time will tell. But for the price I paid -- it is certainly worth it.

For the price, I am very happy. As others have stated, some flaws are filled in with polish and resin, and not everything is completely flush. But it's $20. It's solid. Its big, and its a beast.

For $20 dollars, this thing is a lot of knife! Very heavy, pretty and seems like it could chop pretty well. Came pretty dull like others have said, and I noticed right away there were many areas of the knife that were flawed and filled in with some kind of resin or polish. Again, for the price and after reading about the knife I expected these and am not bothered by them. Overall this thing feels solid and has not loose parts or pins. Time will tell if it holds up but for the price it is not that much of a gamble all things considered. Oh and the sheath — I don’t think there is anything wrong with it, fits the knife well and the quality is what you would expect paired with a knife in this price range.

I have several knives in my collection... Timber Rattler Outlaw is the most recent... I paid around 40 USD plus shipping. The on I received came up to my expectations. The finish is good and 2.6 plus pounds of 440 steel makes it a hefty stylish Bowie knife. The only thing missing is a sharp edge. Butguess I can live without it as I got a good looking, sturdy and we'll balanced knife that can be used for chopping, bettoning, throwing and still holds itself. Sheath that comes with is is OKAY! but again it under 40 $ knife. Regardless of the price I would've rated it 3 outta 5 but considering the price I would say 5/5

This seems like a solid, beautiful, well balanced knife. I ordered it because I always wanted a traditional, regular Bowie. Only one problem. It does not come with an edge. If you do not have the equipment and skills for sharpening a knife like this, don't buy it. Unless you can take it to a professional for sharpening. I am having it exchanged for one that comes sharpened.

a solid sell made knife/sword. the knife is tightly fitted with many pins holding the handle in place. Seems to be as good or better than identical knives costing four times as much.

What a KNIFE, I went camping in California, with the guys, amazing, what this Knife can do. Well balance and sharp. The weight of this knife is perfect. What else can you ask for. This knife does what I always wanting to do, Have the beast in my hand.

I'm very satisfied with the look and the quality of the knife. it is very heavy. the blood Groove is nice and straight and true the blade is very thick. it is as well balanced as it could be for having such a large blade. it was duller than any butter knife when I received it. a little while with a polishing pad and an angle grinder and later on this week some whet stone work it will be perfect. already cut my finger accidentally from the point just by bumping it. sending it to school for training, it should only cut when I tell it to. a great buy for anyone who wants a big knife for batoning wood, whacking limbs, slamming through some big hunks of meat, but not trimming fingernails. I used this knife to cut my wedding cake. We're still happily married almost 10 years later. Can't say it wasn't because of this knife... also, the reception guests audibly gasped, and that was awesome.

It’s a great knife but it does have some problems the Sheth is very poor quality and the gard on the blade broke after I tried to chop some wood with it it has a good heat treat on the blade but the handle hurts your hand after holding it too much

This is a beast of a knife. Big, heavy, solidly built, and a true monster, but one word of warning. Mine came so dull I doubt it could cut cake. I have come to expect any knife I order, form anywhere, to come a bit dull, but this one was REALLY dull. Don't buy it unless you are willing to put the work in to sharpen it . That being said, I DID put a scary sharp edge on it, and ground the tip to a more sharper point, and now, it really is a great knife. For the money, you just can't beat it. I wish the blade was made from regular carbon steel, so I could blue it, but hell, for 20 bucks, and a knife this solidly built, I am not gonna complain. I would buy it again. It is a really cool looking knife, and is well built, and a good conversation piece, and a good tool if you are out int he woods, and want to chop, split, and cut wood. I chopped a old dead tree that was about 3- 3/ 12 thick, and it came down like I had an axe, lol. Took huge chunks of wood out at a time. Then I split it into kindling by batonning it, and the knife shows no wear or tear from it. It holds up to the abuse. If you know how to sharpen a bade, or are willing to pay someone else to do it, then yeah, buy it. You won't regret it.

I've used this knife on a regular basis. It works as a hatchet or a large knife. It's my favorite because it can take abuse. I've cut small trees and keep it with me for self defense. It's big enough to use as a club with the sheath on.

Like others. It was pretty dull but sharpens up good. The sheath folks don't like is kinda cheesy but it'll work. Well made ,no loose parts or cracks so I recon it'll do for what it cost. I'll use it here in the farm to keep my good moves out of harms way.

This knife is so much bigger than the pictures make it seem, once you pick it up you can't help feeling like you need a tree to chop down, or a bear to hunt. Blade doesn't come all that sharp, but that's easy to fix with a stone, just takes some time. Overall it's a sweet massive blade that is well worth $20

A very quality knife for a great price. Heavy duty, and mostly sharp out of the box. A little time with a diamond stone and now is sharp enough to skin critters with. Good for chopping and other camp chores. Wish I would have had this knife years ago. This one will get good use for a long time to come. A serious knife for serious outdoors use, definitely recommend this knife to any who need a good wilderness tool. After two days of abuse it still looks good and kept its edge. Again, a great knife for a great price.

This knife is big and bad. Just like croc dundee's. It was hard to put an edge on but for 20 bucks it's hard to beat.

This is a lot of knife for the money. The sheath is real leather but uses foam for the spacer. The blade is evenly ground on mine which is somewhat rare with Pakistan made blades. Mine had no edge and an awful degree on the edge but for this price it's a small detail.

When the knife arrived I was very impressed with the quality of this knife for only $20. when I got it it wasn't very sharp but just a little time with the sharpener and now I can shave with it it is very good construction it is a very nice and dependable looking knife I would not mind depending my life on this knife

Hefty knife for the price but it requires a LOT of sharpening. Suggest if you buy for everyday use take it to a butcher or a machine shop to get the edge you want. Otherwise good for hanging on a wall or for western type re-enactments.The leather sheath is actually very well made though.

The weight and feel of this knife are exactly what i would expect. It was not razor sharp but its a bowie knife not a razor. I would expect to pay at lest 3 to 4 times as much. Great value for money.

It didn't come razor sharp out of the box, but after a lot of work I can almost shave with it! Now it is perfect and I must have received an exceptionally good sheath bc my opinion of the sheath is good. The artwork and engraving are priceless! Thanks Bud K!

I've been collecting knives and swords for over 30 years and I've seen a lot of the "Hi-Tech" steels used in expensive knives. This Bowie ranks up there with some of the best brands I've ever used. My order arrived quickly and everything was well packed to start things off. I was very impressed with the "Outlaw" from the moment I picked it up. The knife is heavy! The hardwood slabs used for the handle were machined well, leaving no gaps or cracks. The slabs are held in place by SEVEN brass pins! Both the brass pommel and guard fit snug with no rattles and movement. The blade is stainless steel. These days, SS gets a bad reputation compared with the dozens of fancier steels. The single most important thing to remember when deciding and a steel for a knife is what it's purpose is going to be. I certainly wouldn't use Sandvik to chop kindling and I wouldn't consider using 440 to build an expensive, fancy "gentlemans's knife". Stainless steels cover everything from surgical instruments to basic pocket knives to monsters like this blade. Stainless steel is what I would actually prefer using as a workhorse blade. One that can chop through heavy brush, trim stick to set a rabbit trap, cut kindling for a fire and even prepping a deer for butchering. The knife will need some time on a whetstone. It did have a fairly decent edge when it arrived, but nothing near satisfactory. I use Japanese wet stones on all my swords and started using them for my knives a few years ago. You won't need a super fine edge on this blade if you plan on using it the way I do - a camp knife for heavy duty work. For what it's worth, I think that $20 for this knife is a steal! You won't be disappointed

Holy Cow this is a big knife! I mean I knew it would be big but until I actually saw it I didn't realize just how big it would actually be! This thing is freaking massive! I mean wow! This knife is definitely worth 20 bucks! The only complaints I have is the glue on the sheath is already pealing back and the stamp on the sheath is a but flawed, as well as a few minor minor scratches you barely even notice so really, no actual complaints. (oh, there's a tiny tiny tear in the holding strap on the sheath which might be an issue later...?) I can't wait to test this out but first reactions I was just blow away by the size. I love this thing! I'm not sure if it's practical for use for someone of my small size but I am definitely going to put it through some paces first chance I get and if I get spare cash I might buy more!

I have never bought anything from Budk but I am amazed at the prices and the quality of the products I ordered, as well as the quick service in which I received my order. I bought this Bowie Knife after some research on several knifes, The quality for the price was fantastic. I read a lot about the condition of the knife when purchased. I must have gotten one of the best ones or the other reviews were not true. Granted it wasn't razor sharp out of the box, but I didn't expect it to be. This thing is HUGE and Heavy....The blade was polished, the handle is tight, and none of the brass was smudged or in rough shape. It sure is an intimidating knife just to see it. The sheath is leather, though not a quality leather but what do you expect for less than $20.00 I am very pleased with my knife and it was the first of what I am sure will be many more purchases. Try to hold this knife and not smile! !) I got a newer sheath with a smaller belt loop than some in older reviews, works great. Blade is beautiful. Imperfections sure but for $20 possibly the best value in low-mid ($0-100) range, large knives anywhere. Very capable, heavy duty knife. Don't worry about hurting it, at the end of the day its going to still be in great shape. If you are thinking for a gift for a manly man, Get it! This will not be like the sweater I got for Christmas. This knife will make someone happy! BTW, mine arrived in 3 days, just saying. TY.

After looking at all the reviews on budk and watching numerous videos on youtube,I picked up this knife and the Timber wolf full tang ninja sword. I couldn't be more satisfied. The sheer size of the western outlaw bowie inspires fear. I think I'll sharpen it a bit but that's no problem. I ordered on Oct. 19th and recieved my order on the 22nd. It is a pretty nice knife. very intimidating. The blade wasn't razor sharp, but after a little work, you can get it there. Warning, it is pretty hefty, which makes it a bit slow on the return stroke. So, it isn't the quickest blade if you're into FMA or combat training. it does look sexy though, kind of reminds me of the knife from Rambo 3. All-in all, not bad for the price.

I see it comes in Damascus steel, I am thinking about buying that one too. Good for basic defense combat. Reliable and sturdy. Bearings may shift, but not so much you can't hammer them back in. Keeps sharpness if maintained.

Bought this about a year ago. The knife - Pretty darn good. The sheath - Not so much.

When i think Bowie knife , i think of the Western Outlaw by T.R. . This thing is built like a tank. Super thick heavy steel. Full tang. Almost 17" of hacking power. I got my first at a pawnshop used, for $25. When i saw it on budk for 19.99 i bought 2 more. Now im thinkin about buying 2 more. You cant go wrong with this folks. It aint a cheap copy. Its the real damn deal. Sam Bowie himself woulda been proud to carry this bad boy.

These knives are not perfect but they don't cost $200 either. I got it for $19.99 and received free shipping because I ordered the jungle fury bowie also. Very pleased with the overall knife. Has a lot of heft to it and in just a few minutes it was very sharp.

I broke my machete cutting vines, so I used my Timber Rattler bowie to finish the job and it worked way better than the machete.

This knife is comprable to the hibben Rambo 3 knife in size and quality, the price is much much lower though, holding both knives the only way to do this knife Justic. it is much better than it appears, and it appears nice

I just got my timber Rattler Knife couldn't believe the size of this monster beautiful handle just a little rough on one rivet but you have to look real hard to see that the blade is a bear killer if need be. the brass around the handle makes look very expensive. Great price for under $ 25.00. I thought there was another knife 7 and a half inch to but who cares when you got a 5 star Daniel Boone knife (just kidding about Daniel Boone).going to get my son one to. Thanks and right on time.

I purchased one approx. 8 ? years ago. it took a little time to get used to how heavy it was. you can't just use this for slicing Birthday cake. well.. I spose you could to show off. I had to Mod the sheath a little. it's the largest and best Bowie knife I've ever bought. and if your on a project and forgot your hammer one day......... if I "choke up on the handle and wrap my index finger over the hilt into the cutaway if fits my large hand perfectly but it's still not that that easy to wield it, it's a pretty heavy chunk of Metal. Sometimes I hold while watching the TV or a vid to get used to the weight. I always keep it oiled and soak the sheath with machine oil to make it water resistant. it's a nice chocolate brown now. Everyone stares at it where ever I go with it. I fib and say it's $250. it's when I remove it from the sheath and show it to them that their eyes light up and ask where they can get one. I say I had it custom made and it's one of a kind (sometimes) depending... : ) I have quite a few Blades and this is in my top 5. 5 stars

Just received my Timber Rattler, it's a Nice Knife, good weight, it may not have an razor edge but a good enough edge to get job done, With a few swipes on a stone and strop it will be to my liking.This knife will be with me on Hikes and Camping Trips. I would Recommend this knife, it can't be beat for this Price.

Excellent knife for the money. Beautiful handle. Got it as a gift for my brother; the custom engraving with his name and the custom American flag engraving came out great!

(This is a follow up on my original review.) Took my knife to the Saturday Market to get it sharpened by the knife guy. I dropped it off and wandered around for an hour before returning to get my knife. When I got there, there were about half a dozen people standing there just looking at my knife (in sheath) sitting on the counter. Upon realizing that it was mine, a woman asked if she could see it... the others moved closer. I removed it from the sheath and there was a collective gasp of awe around me. I picked up a piece of card stock and made several slices... like a hot knife through butter. "That should work". "Wow". "Where did you get that". etc. People guessed the price between $100 and $200. (Several people also thanked me for carrying my pistol to protect others). The knife guy said it was a good quality knife, but the metal was a little soft. I just ordered 5 more. One for my neighbor, who wanted one the second he saw mine. I plan on selling the other 4 at the outdoor market... for $80 each. Thanks again BUDK.

I just received my Timber Rattler Western Outlaw Bowie Knife. Quick delivery time. After removing layers of bubble wrap and plastic bags, my eyes beheld... exactly what I expected. It was identical to the pictures. Not even close to being "razor sharp", but I really didn't expect it to be. After a thorough inspection I found a few minor flaws, the biggest being a rivet that has a chip in it... nothing major. Hey, I expected a $20 knife... but I was wrong. If this knife was perfect, and if I wanted it for a show piece, I would pay over $100 for it. But I'm going to use this big hulk of a knife to do manly things in the wilderness. That's what it was made for. It is solid, heavy and well made. It will do everything that my machete and hatchet combined will do: hack brush, cut limbs and trees, chop wood, cut meat and bone, intimidate bears... I think that this knife may have failed quality control because of the chipped rivet so it wasn't polished, sharpened, and finished as though it was being sold for $120. I'm fine with that. I'm going to spend a few bucks at a local knifesmith to get the top of the blade ground into an actual edge and sharpen both edges and it will be perfect. The sheath is exactly like the pictures and seems to be pretty well made. It has a large belt loop that makes it easy to remove the knife by tilting it forward. This is BY FAR the best knife I have ever bought for under $50. Buy 2, someone will want yours. Now I'm off to order a slightly smaller version for my girlfriend. Thank you BUDK!

This was another great gift from my wife. The blade is thick and big enough to run through a grown man or heavy enough to beat an opponent. The handle is very smooth and comfortable in your hand almost feels like glass. Sheath is well made I added super glue on the end stiches to ensure they will not come undone and it made the stitching nice and sealed. You could easily chop trees with this bowie but thats what an axe or hatchet is made for. A bowie is not made for throwing at trees like I have seen some write on bowie reviews complaining the tip broke! Well yeah the tip could break as its not a throwing knife for trees not to mention if not thrown perfectly straight the weight alone and force could snap any tip on a knife this size. Now if thrown at an oponent the tip would not break as humans are not hardwood trees! Use common sense and if not well its your fault you break it. Any knife large or small is a tool that if used right and maintained properly should last. Screwdrivers are for prying not knives. Very happy with all my bowies from budk! I rate this 5 stars and am thinking about buying a couple more. Has some dings and imperfections in it but nothing that is bad and in fact makes it mine. Too much perfection to me in a knife makes it a clone. The handle is perfect and tight no wiggles in any part of the knife. The blade is not razor sharp but will be soon. It is sharp enough however to do serious damage such as chopping. Cuts rope no problem. I wouldnt want my hand or arm on a stump with the blade coming down on it. I wanted a true full tang chopping knife and this one will surely serve that purpose. Along with it's value pricing, the one I received mid 2016 has a near (100%) fit and finish. Very nice! If a large and reasonably priced / finished bowie meets your critera, then the TR65 should make your short list.

Can't beat the price! First Bowie I've ever owned and I love it! Heavy, solid, nice construction. The Grey Hardwood handle has almost a pearl-like finish, and w/all the Brass, very nice looking knife! The sheath is nice too, all leather as far as I can tell w/the Timber Rattler logo embossed in the middle of the sheath. My only "Con" is that it was about as dull as a butter knife & needs to be sharpened. Other than that, VERY nice knife for the price. Very happy!

For the money you can't beat this deal. This was my first purchase and I am very happy and will be back. The only negative is it is not razor sharp. A sharp knife will easily slice a piece of paper this one wont. It's OK I will sharpen it myself to be razor sharp.

I have just about every other T-Rattler Bowie. This one has all the best features. Mega-weight, huge size, blade thickness, handle-style, and a leather sheath that looks like it's 30 years old. Very cool. The loop is stitched on , not cheapie pop-riveted. Just a great Bowie. Like a previous review, you almost want to name this knife. I'm thinking "Lurch".

I love my bowie knife so much I miss it when I leave it at home ha! I named her Metalocalypse after the Dethklok comedy cartoon! She comes with a decent edge but you'll want to sharpen her. Gorgeous grey wood handle...beautiful leather sheath... Indiana carry laws permit me to carry any length of blade in public and this is one inexpensive knife you can be proud of.

You can't go wrong with knife. It's as big a bowie as you will find. Yes, it is stainless steel. However, it is nearly a quarter inch thick and the blade is almost 12 inches and it's full tang. You have to hold it in your hand to really appreciate it. The fit and finish is good. The sheath is of surprisingly good quality. Mine fits perfectly. I honestly don't see how they make any profit off this knife.It compares to knives 3 times the cost. I give it five stars and will buy more Timber Rattler knives in the future. Well done Budk.

Recently bought four different timber rattler knives. This one by far is a beast. Literally split fire wood with it.

I used mine to teach my wife how to build an emergency shelter. The heavier weight made it easier for her to chop and hack her way through branches. It kept a sharp edge and the sheath is made of nice thick leather. I bought a second one as a gift for my brother.

This knife is very large and well built but also beautiful something like a plus size model.But it still is able to do a lot of hard work too.

Can't believe you can get a knife like this for less than $20 .Its made in Pakistan not China,unbelievable quality! They said the guard is brass plated but it's actually solid brass. The case is real leather and well made. You can't buy the case for $20. I'm sold, can't go wrong on this one! And as always Budk has the best prices and fast service!

My first purchase from Budk. For this price i couldn't pass it up. Fantastic price for such a solid well built knife. good weight, not terribly unbalanced, feels good. looks great. Easily worth more than the regular list price, Let alone the sale price. and it got here in 3 days. it's not perfect. the leather sheath isn't the best leather, there are some manufacturing marks on it, a minor knick in the wood by one of the brass pins, and "razor sharp" is a bit of an exaggeration, but don't let that sway you. this is still a beautiful and solidly built knife. you get much more than you pay for with this one.

I'm as impressed with this knife as everyone else here is. I have always wanted a Bowie knife and that's what this is. I thought it was a little heavy and unbalanced until I discovered the finger notch at the blades hilt. This thing'll scare the heck out of anybody (if that's your intent). For a $40(20) bowie, I can say im pretty satisfied with it, cam decently sharp in the box. I recommend getting this knife if you are thinking of getting it, the sheath is pretty cool too, fits onto most belts.

This is one of my favorite fixed blades and my favorite bowie, I cant find anything wrong with the knife except for the sheath.

I've given three of these as gifts. and my son and both nephews love them as hunting, camping, all around never-fail go-to knives. (I'll be ordering another one for ME tomorrow.)

The over all knife is nice the steel is strong I cut down a holly tree that was more than 12 inches wide. But the edge of the blade holds up good. the only problem I had with this knife was the handle the pins on both sides need to be mushroomed better they came loose after a while. I would recommend this knife to any one it is a great chopper and good for skinning. The sheath needs to be sowed up better I had to re stich it also it needs to be made of real leather.

I have thr jungle fury and this bowie. This thing is super thick and extremely strong. It came pretty sharp bit I worked on it for about 20 minutes and now it's a paper slicer. This thing holds it's own against $100 bowies. The full tang blade is no joke and almost a 1/4 of an inch thick. It's so heavy; I don't know how Budk can ship it without losing money at their standard rate. If you're reading this.....don't hesitate to buy this one. Seriously.

I purchased one of these few months ago and it is a very big knife, sturdy, sharp out of the box, full tang, decent sheath. Used a 1" belt sander on edge up to 600 grit, then a leather stropping belt. Now RAZOR sharp, and will shave hair on my arm. Good addition to your knife collection.

This is a very sturdy knife and for the price it's as good as it gets. It's full tang and hefty. As for the "rusting and pitting" mentioned below I'd recommend not using the included leather sheath. A similar knife that will hold up better will run you 3 to 5 times the price or more. 5 stars for a $20.00 knife.

I saw a copy of this knife on a TV reality show recently. I gave a copy of this knife to a friend, who prizes it highly. The knife features potential as a camp tool processing wood, chopping limbs, part time in the camp kitchen and if need be a fierce weapon.

The problem is not the knife it's the sheath, leather holds a lot of moisture so you need to oil the inside and outside of t sheath and oil the blade. I prefer motorkote, it stays in the metal for about three years. Once you oil the sheath you shouldn't have any problems with rust.

Had this knife for awhile and its great! It can chop down branches and trees with ease. A great camping knife or everyday work knife it impressed all my friends. Overall a huge powerful bowie and a great knife

I have had this knife for some time now, understanding the old saying " you get what you pay for" I bought the knife anyway. When I first saw the knife I was impressed, very heavy and seemed to be made well, yes it had some flaws but nothing to squawk about, I put the knife in the sheath and left it there until the next day, when I pulled it out of the sheath to look at it again it was rusted up to no end, no problem I can clean that up, well it cleaned up but it was pitted, not only that the brass guard turned green as well. No matter what I do to the knife, polishing, buffing it won't stop developing rust. I have to keep it oiled up and wrapped in waxed paper to keep any more corrosion from developing.

It was what i expected just a big knife great for camping, a very strong knife well made and it holds its edge good thanks budk!

I was really impressed by how thick and heavy this knife is. The brass was a little tarnished when it came, and the sheath was covered in mold or something, which came off easily with a damp rag. However, I am really just concerned about functionality, so for only $20 I am really pleased with this knife.

I bought this bowie about a year and a half ago, and i only just recently broke the scales off of the handle. This thing has been thrown into countless trees and has hit too many cinderblocks to count. The blade is scratched up, but still sharp enough to slice almost anything. I've purchased many knives in my lifetime, but this is the only one to survive as long as it has. If you're thinking about buying this, do it. You will not be disappointed.

Great knife, bought two and gave one to my brother. Both came pretty sharp, I sharpened mine to a razor edge now I can shave with it. I like the weight, it's one of my favorites in my collection. Great quality knife I've paid more for a lot less

i have nothing but good thing to say about this knife. it it heavy, really heavy, and has a good build and feel to it. excellent quality knife. and good detail. the knife includes the following specs. -zebra wood handle with heavy duty brass pins -Cr17 (surgical steal) blade -brass hawk bill bolster -heavy brass guard -high quality sheath -deap blood groove (both sides) if i had to nitpick this knife with any fault id say it wasn't sharp enough out of the box, but i like my knives literally razor sharp so maybe i'm just picky. and the sheath was singly stich and did not have a lanyard.

I've been wanting a Bowie for my collection and when I ordered this one I was hoping that it was the one. Well, I wasn't disappointed. The size, feel and weight was just what I was looking for. I would recommend this one. You will have to sharpen it to your own desire but it is a very good Bowie. But the engraving was a little cheesy. It looks like laser etching and not a true engraving but this has NO reflection on the knife.

I collect blades as a hobby.I have a large variety of blades from pocket knives to swords.When i bought this knife i knew it would be large but i didn't know how large.Its strong and has a magnificent handle.Its abnormally heavy weight for a Bowie knife makes it feel like a small sword.The sheaths strong and i always love the smell of leather.The shipping was much faster than i expected.I love it so much i am trying to think of a name/title for it.The price is very cheap for a knife of this great quality.It makes one feel powerful just holding it.I recommend this knife to anyone who can appreciate the beauty of a good knife.

Fantastic knife at a great price! I had ordered another item from Bud K but to get free shipping I needed to add a little more to the order, so I figured here was a chance to check out this Bowie knife that had so many great reviews and added it to my order. I was skeptical based on the price, but it arrived today and I must say it is just an excellent piece. It was MUCH larger than I expected and very heavy! It was razor sharp, and everything was nice and tight, the full tang blade was perfectly fitted to the wood handle. I can see this being passed down through the generations. The leather sheath fit perfectly and seems heavy duty and was also well made. All in all, this was one of the best purchases I made from Bud K, and I may just order another.

I have purchased some cheap knives. This is not a cheap knife, it's a quality inexpensive knife. The T6 full tang steel is awesome, sharp and solid. The handle is beautiful and perfectly fit, nice brass. The sheath is heavy solid leather. I am amazed at the quality of this knife for the price. Stunning to look at, good feel and balance. I ordered 2 of these knives. One for myself and one for my cousin. Both arrived in good, very good condition and reasonably sharp. I recommend using a diamond encrusted sharpening rod to refine the edge. I was expecting less of the sheath after reading some reviews, but it was better than I expected. This is definitely a power knife.

If you've been ordering from BudK for awhile you've built up a tolerance to greatness. You are gonna need it. When I removed this knife from the sheath I was barely able to control the amount of AWESOME that radiated from the blade. I was instantly struck with visions of knights in armor riding flaming black motorcycles down a road made of barb wire and saw dust. I knew at that moment that MAN-kind could be pulled back from being the latte drinking, skinny jean wearing, mama's boys that text each other about which flavored water is trending. This knife is that powerful. If Chuck Norris ever shaves his beard this is the knife he'll use. Would I recommend this knife to my friends? No. None of them could handle it. Should you buy one? My advice is that if you do when you open the box do NOT blink.

I grew up watching the Davy Crocket, Jim Bowie shows on TV, and I was always fascinated with the Bowie knife, and always wanted one. And now at 67 years old, I finally have one. I wouldn't settle for a low cost poor quality knife, and was not willing to pay the price for one that was of the high quality that I wanted. The timber rattler Bowie knife from BUDK is an incredible knife, both in quality and good looks, and even the heavy leather sheath is top quality. If you have been thinking of getting a Bowie knife, stop thinking and start buying, you simply can't do better than buying one from BUDK, I'm sure you will be just as happy as I was when I got mine.

What a surprise when I opened this package. This knife is worth at least three times what I paid for it. It is HUGE, has a good heft to it and will do every thing you could need to get done. I will buy more for gifts and I would recommend this knife to every one. This is a beauty!

If you are into bowies, this is a great inexpensive knife. This isn't a knife that is made to set in the safe to look at, its made to work and carry. If you are expecting a show knife this isn't for you. That being said, it is a very nice knife for overseas construction. It is full tang, with a real brass pomel and, finger guard. Mine came to me out of the box decently sharp. The blade is constructed of surgical steel, so it will hold a good edge and take a lot of beating. The blade is around a 1/4 inch at the thickest point. The wood handle construction is very nice for a $20 knife. The sheath is ok, I have heard a lot of people complain about it, but its not that bad. My two complaints with the sheath is that the belt loop is a little to big, I feel you would pull the sheath up to far when you are skinning the knife, and in between the face and rear of the sheath lies a foam insert. I feel that could wear away over a long period of time. The snap for the sheath also gets in the way when you are skinning the knife and, you will probably start to slice into it. Those are my only cons with this item. Over all this is an awesome knife made to work. I will be ordering another Timber Rattler knife soon.

This knife is massive. It's a very solid knife, the full tang blade is nice and thick, and once sharpened will hold a edge very well. The only thing that could of been better was the sheath, but it's not too bad. This knife is so big and solid that you can split wood and cut down smaller trees. This knife is versatile and powerful. But I found it's best use is in my kitchen. Slices through a roast to make steaks like it was butter. Quarters a whole chicken in seconds. A great tool for any chef. Sounds weird, but it's true.

I have read on some knife forums about Pakistan made knifes being unsafe etc. This one must be an exception cause I have used it for all kinds of tough stuff like batoning wood, chopping hardwood limbs off, cutting meat and it's held up very well! I have had mine going on 5 years now and it's worked very well! Nothing has come loose or broken! It's still nice and tight! I am not sure but I think the steel they were using changed some? Mine is made out of AUS-6 and I did a hardness test on the steel and a spark test and it appears to be just that rather than 420? Mine does not have soft steel and I sharpen knives and other things part-time for additional income and have many brand name knives and some custom knives. It came literally razor sharp in the box and I use a belt grinder to keep it that way, but it holds a nice edge for quite a while even after heavy use! Not bad for a $30 knife!

Are you serious...?,,,$20 for a massive, well designed heavy duty Bowie Knife...! I love this thing, it's old school tough and sharpens well. Handy,Very good design, comes with a superb all leather sheath and no silly coatings to rub off, so it needs oil, like a real knife.

Very good quality stainless blade is 1/4 inch thick. Solid brass guard and pommel. Came sharp. The leather sheath is a little thin, you might get a kit and make your own. I'm thinking of kydex. But the knife at $20 is such a deal I can easily do another sheath.

I purchased this Bowie at the request of a friend that had been looking for a good Bowie for some time but he was not willing to shell out big bucks for a brand name knife. He was ecstatic at the knifes quality and could not believe it was such a solid well built Bowie for the price. He had looked at many Bowie's and his words were .This knife by far outshines almost all the other Bowie's he had looked at and at less then a quarter of the price. He showed this Bowie to his friends and now he wants me to order three more. This Bowie's solid full tang construction will make it a must have for anybody who is building a bug out bag. It will be a blessing to have a blade that you can actually chop & split wood with that will hold up to a pounding.. The sheath is adequate for show but if you are going to use it as a work horse blade. I would recommend wrapping it with some heavy duty camo-duct tape. I decided to give this knife the benefit of the doubt, and i'm glad I did. this blade goes way far beyond my expectations. the edge is near razor sharp right out of the box. I highly recommend this knife to any one!!!!

This is an awesome knife. It came razor sharp. I was a little surprised to see how beautiful the handle was,could not be better. Only one tiny nick to the top of the blade as the only flaw, so I might of gotten one of the best ones. Nice heavy blade about 1/4 inch thick. Steel is T 65 surgical steel the stuff scalpels are made of, be the reason why it is razor sharp. The sheath is ok and will do. I high some high expectations from reading the reviews and I am not disappointed. I doubt if you could find a better value on a bowie else where. I payed $17.00 for mine, what a deal. I would recommend this to everyone. I will be buying more from Timber Rattler in the future. If you have any doubts about buying this BUY, good reviews from 366 people, enough said!

Comes as described and is way sharper than I thought it would be as it has already drawn a little blood and as shown in the video it can hack a tree apart in just a few swings of this huge blade. Buy it you won't regret it in the least.

by far the biggest and thickest of all timber rattler bowie knives, i own about 16 different ones, the sunset bowie comes close in size but not in thickness... best timber rattler to date...

Love this beast!! Sheath was a bit nicked but who cares for the price??!! When I show it off, I ask everyone if they want to see my new "lil pocket knife"!? Pretty darn sharp too. I died put a finer edge to it though, and stropped her.

This knife is a great buy, its hand crafted full tang and heavy. You can't beat it for $20 I bought two, one for me and one for a gift for my brother. The blades were both shaped a little differently his had more of a curve towards the tip and less of a point but mine looked exactly like it does in the picture. Beautiful knife, don't store it in the leather sheath or it will rust pretty quickly unless you keep the blade oiled and the inside of the sheath as well. Leather holds a lot of moisture.

I bought two of these and they are a great knife for the price. Grant it they don't have the best fit and there are imperfections in the blade,handle and brass coated fittings, but for the price you can't really complain. The sheaths are serviceable enough and could be modified to last long than they would right out of the box. I would suggest making a new sheath yourself or have someone make one for you if you're going to be carrying this knife a lot. I still gave this knife 5 stars because it's a $20 knife with a decent useable blade that you can actually do a lot of work with.

Can cut down a small tree with this knife. Very rugged and built very solid. I did have to exchange the knife sheath which was damaged in the box.

I was completely amazed at this knife when it came in. It is that and everything else. Feels great and looks fantastic. Not too happy with the sheath,a thin leather outside and what seems like foam between the leather. Looks nice. The tip of the sheath was peeling back but wasnt anything to send the knife back for. I was very happy with this knife.

This is the toughest bowie I`ve ever owned. If you are no happy with this, then nothing will satisfy you. If you don`t carry this, you might as well carry a hatchet. This is more versatile though. Would and probably will buy more. Already purchased six. Kennesaw also carries some terrific Damascus knives.

Knife was just as it was advertised. I have two of this knife. Great item. Just one little problem though. The second knife's sheaf had an approximately 3 -4 inches long CUT in the leather. It was not cut through and that is why I did not return. All and all very good products from BUDK

Bloody beaut! This knife is really hefty, very sturdy. Real leather sheath has a really nice pattern on the front. The metal is thick, and has a full tang so it can tacky almost any job you need! Plus it looks good enough to display. Great buy.

This is my first buy from budk, and is truly a great knife to say the least.my friends were very impressed with the size and durability. For the price you can't get much better than this. Though there were a few scratches throughout the blade and handle but you can tell it's from shipping not manufacturing.

Ever since I was little I've wanted to start a knife collection. And I wanted to start it off with a knife I have always wanted which is the bowie knife. I searched many web sites to find one to my liking and I came across this one on amazon. My first thought was when I saw this one was "my knife collection would be perfect with this piece" and it wasn't long until I ordered from amazon...when I saw this knife in person I was mesmerized by the MASSIVE size of the blade. If your a knife collector this knife is a must have I guarantied you that would not be disappointed with this knife and also its impressive with cutting objects....my only downside to it was that when I received it the bolt that secured the fastener and the belt loop was off of the sheath but it can be repaired.

Got one of these monster for Christmas and I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt it is beast. The leather sheathe isn't all that great but that doesn't stop this bad**s bowie from tearing through literally everything you put in it's way. Unfortunately hunting season passed by time I got it, but this beauty will definitely be going out with me every trip next year.

I was surprised by the size and strength of this knife. I was also surprised at how sharp it was and how well in the year since I bought it that it's held its edge. The handel wood was well fitted and was securely held in place. It's a massive and good looking knife that sharpens well and holds an edge, what more can you ask for. All for $20.

As my headline would indicate, this knife is just plain out freaking awesome. I got it for my friend for his b-day and he almost kissed me but settled for kissing the knife instead. Pros: sharp, really big, has awesome weight to it, and looks great. Impression on sheath look cool too. Cons: The hook thingy on the hilt was really sharp and I cut myself on it getting it out of the box and the handle was too gray

Man o Man, this is one BIG knife! I thought I was prepared for the size but once I got it in my hand only then did I realize the heft of this monster. It is well made with a few flaws to the handle, but the blade is top notch. It needs to be sharpened, but hey what knife does not need to be touched up. One difference I did notice is that instead of engraving the name of the knife and country of manufacture, mine is inked on. Which means eventually it will wear off. Just cosmetic, but a difference all the same. Also the snap is plain brass. Overall, I like this knife and would recommend it to anyone who wants a solid hunk of steel in their hand. And at $20 it was a steal. Thanks BUDK. My next blade purchase will definitely come from you.

My gosh what a blade. Tremendous value for the price! I'll have to put rocks in my left pocket to balance me out to walk a straight line. Mine could have been sharper out of the box but nothing I can't fix. Highly recommend this blade to anyone, warrior, soldier, hunter, wanna be, no matter, you can't go wrong.

Best knife ever. I got mine a few years ago and it's still serving me well. I've used it to trim trees in the yard and to baton firewood and pound nails and it's great for all that but where it really shines is in the garden. The size and heft make it perfect for preparing soil to plant. You can just carve up the dirt and this thing goes right through all the roots like nothing. Way more useful than any hand shovel. I love the design. I wish they sold the exact same knife with solid brass appointments and top quality fit and finish. For the price though this thing is awesome.

An absolute animal of a blade. A few passes with a ceramic rod had this beauty so sharp it could take your hand at the wrist if your not careful. A steal for the money and a devastatingly functional piece of steel.

I couldn't believe how big this knife - wait a minute...is this a knife or a machete? A sword? It's enormous, whatever it is. And beautifully crafted. All the lines and angles on it are honed to perfection. The handle is smooth and comfortable to grip. It's sturdy and heavy and simply a joy to hold, with a beautiful brass handguard and curved pommel for a more secure grip. I can't say enough good things about this...er...knife. Had my initials engraved on it, too. Will leave it to my daughter when I die, and it'll be a family heirloom of sorts. Couldn't be happier with this purchase, and hands down the best $25 I ever spent on a knife. Would've happily spent $100 on the same blade.

While this is not a show quality knife, it is good looking, great feeling and has taken hours of abuse. The sheath is sturdy, I have had no problem wearing it on my side and pulling the blade. This thing is razor sharp after taking down several small trees and clearing all kinds of brush, vines and wood. For the money, you can't go wrong.

I just purchased 2 more of these knives and they are great. one had a bent tip (easy fix.) The ony thing is that the wood color ranges from blue to grey

the knife it self is quite large the Blade is strong 11+in. cutting surface 9and5/8 by 1/4 in thick yes 9 5/8 inches of Razor sharp surgical steel... sliced paper with not a miss no drag co. thru layers of card board for hours like it were sheets of paper and still even shaved hair off my arm just like a barbers Razor. I would not hesitate to recommend this to a friend, the only disappointment was with the sheath, it fell apart first time I strapped it on, thin leather and the rivets ripped rite thru... Boo-Hoo does not retract from the quality of the knife at all I think the amount of steel alone in this knife is worth every penny... maybe for chopping great oaks spring steel may be more suitable but this dose d**n good job for my money, hamered on this all day long making kindling and tent pegs, my Fiskars hatchet is on stand by for now. I will make a sheath for it myself, it is the least I could do for the work I have gotten out of it. I am very impressed by the words Made in Pakistan... you should be too...

I just received my timber rattler western outlaw Bowie knife today in the mail, and i just have to say that this was the best buy i have ever made on budk. the blade is as massive as it looks and is way bigger and heavier than i imagined. the blade itself was sharp right out of the box, and the tip actually punctured the box it came in because the little plastic cap fell off during shipping. the only downside is it was made in Pakistan, but that is still better than china. the leather sheath was even of an amazing quality for the knife. well done, budk!

got mine today. its HUGE! looks really good, fairly sharp out of the box but could use a good honing. overall as far as craftsmanship I give it a "B" as there are a few slight flaws, but then factor in the price and it goes back up to an "A". was surprised by the sheath, its really actually pretty nice, but im afraid the belt strap is weak, I will probably replace that with a heavier/wider one with 4 rivets. I wish it had leg cords on it though, prolly put some on it. overall, yes buy this, buy three. give them for gifts, if you want a big badazz knife and don't have a big badazz wallet, this is it

Very sharp out of box, sliced up a sheet of paper like my buck knife. 1/4 thick blade with no defects, nice wood handle and good quality brass. The scabard is excellent i'm very surprised by it.This is definetaly atleats a $100 knife. Budk blades are great for taking on the quad,if i lose it i'm only out $20.

Great knife and the price was just right I own two of them now. Razor sharp and well worth the money budk has the best prices on the timber rattler line I can find anywhere. If your looking for a knife that you' ll have for years this is the one.

This Knife was a great buy. Full tang was important in a knife this size. Good leather sheath. The retaining strap is in a bad place, though. As I am pulling the knife out of the sheath, the cutting edge of the knife drags across the strap. I am already seeing cuts on the strap. But that is the only downside to this beautiful knife. Brass bolster and pommel with brass pins holding a beautifully finished hardwood handle makes this knife look like it cost a lot more than it does. My wife suggested we put it on display, so I might have to buy another one!

After watching the video on this knife, I thought it was an awful lot of knife for less than $20...but being a bit skeptical, I ordered it anyway. It arrived today and let me tell you, this is quite a knife. Quality construction through and through, with a leather sheath that you'd pay more than $20 any where else. In anticipation of its arrival, I had all my sharpening supplies out on my work bench, but they weren't needed. This knife was razor sharp right out of the box. If you are looking to buy an indestructible Bowie knife, you can't go wrong with this one!!! Great product, great price and fast delivery adds up to a home run!!!!

This knife is awesome!! Very well made, with a heavy duty blade. You could cut down trees with this tool. One thing that is important to me when purchasing a knife is the sheath. The Western Outlaw Bowie knife came through on this as well with a well made heavy leather sheath. The first one I ordered I gave to a good friend. Then I ordered another. I will probably get more to give away for Christmas, or Birthday gifts. It's that impressive! And you can't beat Bud-K's price!!

Pleasantly surprised of the assembly of this knife. Also not made in Pakistan. Most of the Pakistan items I have come across are decent quality. They seem to be good craftsman and take pride in what they build. Very solid, handle, lines up nice and has no wobble. Wood finish looks good. The sheath is not bad at all. The blade is heavy and very thick. More of a small sword that will come out on top in a knife fight and chop wood when finished! Remember the croc man from down under, "that's not a knife this is a knife"

i bought this knife and it just came in today i love it! its huge has a good weight and is full tang well made dosnt come very sharp but like 5 min with a sharpining stone it becomes razor sharp comes with a good sheath for 20 buck amazing buy!!

I love this knife! Big enough to handle those jobs that a smaller Bowie just won't do. And, for $20.00, it can be easily replaced (if ever needed!). That's a knife!

THIS is a Knife... And yes, it deserves the capital K. It is full-tang, well constructed, and ready to take on any challenge. It is HUGE- just shy of a short sword. There is a curve in the tang above the hilt for the forefinger- it exposes your finger to potential harm, but is perfect for controlling the center of gravity for the blade, giving a h**l of a lot of control. Drop the forefinger below the hilt, and you're protected by have slightly less control of the blade. My only complaint is the sheath. It is leather, but the stitching is already coming apart. Given the immense size of the blade, I wish the sheath strapped to the thigh, making the draw much smoother and easier. Also, the it is designed for us right-handed folks: lefties are gonna have to figure out a different way to draw the blade. You'll need to sharpen this sucker out of the box - for general use, I'd recommend a 25 degree angle - but if you lavish love and attention on this blade the same way I have, you'll have an incedible addition to your collection, and a terribly useful blade.

Great knife to have in the woods. I do not even have to swing it to have it cut through thick branches! Going to bring it with me when I go hunt some boars. Good strong knife for 20 bucks, great deal! Great to show to your friends or use for other purposes! Might have to get a couple more!

This is the second one I bought from Bud K, just because I liked this Bowie knife so well. I will never use it because the first one will last me three lifetimes. The Bowie is truly made for the Jolly Green Giant, it is heavy, huge, and the blade is a 1/4 in thick with a full tang that would take a tank to destroy. The handle is beautiful and this knife was sharp out of the box. Tarzan could kill an elephant with it but might find it difficult swinging from vine to vine as it is a heavy knife and made for heavy duty work. The sheath will suffice but not quite the quality it should have been for this size/weight of knife. I had to have two of them, one to use and the other just to hold in my hand and admire. I rate it ten stars but they only gave me five stars to click on. High quality - the best I have ever seen from Pakistan or anywhere for the money - buy it!

Just received my "Timber Rattler" and I couldn't be more pleased. Sharp, clean, and extremely well made. This beats any deal you'd see on the TV from those knife shows. Just be careful unwrapping it, cause its sharp like a razor. Just have to think up a name for her. I'm anxiously awaiting for my next order to come. The "Fantasy Mystic Nights Sword". I already have a name for her so you zombies better tread lightly or I'll introduce you to "THE DE-NOGGINATOR"!

Received this knife on 7-25-13. Opened up a cardboard box to find a 16 1/2 inch beast. Weighs much more than you'd expect it to. Full tang blade and a beautifully crafted wooden handle. If you are looking for a huge knife for hard use or just to display, then this knife is for you.

I agree with the other reviews. This knife is so well made that on inspection you would swear it was far more expensive than it was. The blade is substantial, the metal to wood fit is excellent and the brass work is nothing short of beautiful. It is good, quality steel, tough to put an edge on, and will hold that edge. It's a great tool and I think would terrify an enemy if you pulled it in anger. No down side here.

The Timber Rattler Western Outlaw Bowie is a very good knife for 20$. it is has a long, yet thick, and wide blade, evening out the size. the knife is full tang, and pretty heavy. it came sharp even to shave. THE BLADE IS NOT MADE IN CHINA. The blade is made from surgical steel in Pakistan. the handle is strong and tight. You will not find a better deal.

I have always been fascinated by bowie knives. I purchased one from Bass Pro thinking it was pretty cool. I wish I would have found the timber rattler first. It was $10 less and so much more of a knife. What an amazing value. It is beautiful and solid and holds a great edge. I have shown it off to several people and they were all impressed. Sweet blade.This is a very good Bowie. The quality of the steel is kinda ehhh. But you really can't expect to much more from a Pakistan blade. Over all though this blade has proven itself to be particularly badas$. I thought it was a bit cumbersome at first, but this is that kind of knife to be broken in. All in all though I think it's a fantastic; very versatile blade.

This bowie is by far one of the best out there, and for only $20???? You can't pass it up. I own 2 myself and I have purchased quite a few as gifts for friends and family. The only con to me would be the sheath. It isn't the greatest of quality, but hey, the bowie is worth 4x as much alone so can't complain. Most of the time they are razor sharp out of the box but one of them wasn't so sharp. It is easily sharpened and holds a sharp edge with lots of abuse. If you are looking for a functional full-tang bowie for a bargain, look no further. This beast is definitely worth the money.

This is CERTAINLY worth $20.It has some weight to it and is pretty big. It's almost like a short sword. Not sure how practical it is though. Not like I'm going to be skinning buffalo anytime soon but da** sure when the Zombie Apocalypse comes I want this knife with me. =)

You seriously don't realize how big this thing is until you take it out of the box. When held upside down, the blade is as long as my forearm. When people say "Nice knife" I say it's not a knife. It's a "Knoife" with an australian accent. It IS full tang, and alot of people will lie about that, but you can see the entire tang. The blade is thin enough to not feel awkward and too heavy (Although it's weight will take some getting used to) but thick enough to where it is as sturdy as you could possibly need it to be. I've chopped wood with it. When I got it, I was cutting 1-2" limbs off of trees in one chop, sometimes two. And astetically, you feel like a post-apocalyptic outlaw person holding it. I didn't put it down for several hours that first day. For the price, if you're looking for a large bowie, this is the one.

when i first received this knife i was a little curious as to the quality for $20.well that was answered after i opened it.it is a very big and heavy knife with the potential for many things.from the blade to the handle excellent quality.the only things i would try to correct in the future are the blade was not that sharp.i like them razor sharp.also there was an inconsistent flow of metal in the mold of the pommel.(a little hole on the bottom and top of guard was scratched up (some deep grooves in metal)all in all for $20 i am pleased.

Nice knife... Thoughts... * The tip of the sheath should have a lanyard which would secure the bottom of the sheath to the leg and stop the swing of the knife while walking. But this is a small modification... * I'd like to know more about the "Surgical Stainless Steel"... Is it 420? Is it 440? Is it AUS? * It's made in Pakistan, which isn't necessarily a bad thing -- the craftsmanship is quite good... * I've never used it, so I can't speak to its edge-holding ability, etc., but I've sold a number of them with no complaints... * It makes for a great "mantle knife" or "man cave knife"... * I try to buy when BudK has specials like $.01 shipping... I have no problem doubling my money when selling them... * I like the full tang construction... * All told, IMHO, a solid value if for no other reason that it would be at home in a bug-out bag... Great knife. Showed up as scheduled. sheath is strong. only problem is the handle...a little chincy, but everything else is worth the money spent.

This blade is a very sturdy design, somewhat heavy, easy to wield. and very VERY sharp. Be extremely careful when cutting with this knife, i speak from experience. i was cutting with this knife, when it slipped and sliced about a half an inch into my index finger, clean cut. This thing works great for any task, just be careful is my only precaution.

Wow! what a buy for only $20. This is not the most expensive knife bought from Budk, but it is the best value. For those who may think the wood handle is simulated, the small knot in mine proves otherwise. blade came razor sharp, brass of cross guard and pommel is high quality. Not sure what all the fuzz is about the sheath. Leather seems thick, good grade belt leather. Stitching is thick and strong. Rivets for the belt loop and snap seem pretty strong as well. Noticed the snap doesn't have a star emblem on it people referred to in past reviews, its simply plain, so I'm thinking Timber Rattler probably took some of the earlier criticisms of the sheath to heart and made production changes. Pay nothing or a penny in one of budk's shipping specials, and that is simply icing on an already tasty cake.

This is REALLY nice knife! Heavy and well built. Even the sheath is pretty good. Everyone I show this bad a$$ knife to can't believe what I paid for it and they want one. I bought three of these beasts. I do mean Beast its heavy, sharp and huge. My Uncle and Father In-Law both love them just as much as I. This is a beautiful knife that will be pasted down to the son. the sheath is gorgeous and rugged. I just got my Bowie today I literally held it for an hour. Love the blade I'm going to buy my big bro one for his birthday.

The photos and video showed a fairly decent built knife. They do NOT do it justice. You could stamp Gil Hibben on this knife and not know the difference, except this one is useful..lol SOLID build, HEAVY blade, SHARP edge. And the carry sheath, wow. I do leather work and it looks like something I would have made. It will last the life of the knife. I'm on here today because I'm ordering another for my son.

Wow...massive, hefty and solid. Super thick full tang 1/4" blade gives you the confidence to whack through anything without fear of breaking/bending the blade. Well crafted, smooth edges great fit and finish. Handle is very comfortable to hold. Can't believe this was only $20.

I bought this knife more or less for the WOW! factor. Along with the decent reviews and the price, I figured it wasn't much of a gamble. MY expectations however were not very high. I was more than pleasantly surprised. Keep in mind my five star rating is taking into account the price of the knife. Nevertheless, I am well pleased. It was very sharp right out of the box. Fit and finish were very good. I have seen a lot of negative comments on the sheath. I either lucked out big time or they have taken these comments to heart and improved it greatly. Heavy leather, nicely embossed, full rivets not tacked belt loop, heavy retainer. Very nice indeed. In fact, I also ordered a couple of Hibben knives which have nice sheaths, and I would rate this sheath right up there with them. Very impressed and in fact will be ordering some more for gifts.

It's a fantastic knife for the price. It's not perfect, but you get a whole lot of bang for your buck with it. It's big, heavy, beautiful and mine came sharp enough to shave with. Even the sheath was pretty good, although the rivets that hold the belt loop on were very poorly attached. The craftsmanship was also well above what I expect out of a Pakistani knife. Here are the deficiencies or inaccuracies I noted. 1) The swedge isn't real. It's actually flat and about 1/8" thick. This probably makes the knife more practical for things like batoning, but an accurate Bowie would have a sharpened swedge. 2) The rivets on the sheath are not secure. A light tug was all it took to pull the belt loop off the sheath. It's an easy fix though and otherwise my sheath was quite nice and the leather used was good and thick. 3) The edge comes sharp and easily takes a sharp edge, but it won't hold one for long. If you actually use this knife regularly, take a sharpener so that you can touch it up frequently. All in all though, this is a great knife for the price.

In my 65 years of life I have owned many knives, some good, some bad, but this particular knife is absolutely one of the best I have ever used for the amount of money it took to purchase it! I would recommend this blade to anyone!

I bought one of these a while back and the handle was squared so I reshaped it. The new ones are improved and have rounded surfaces on the handle scales. I call it the "Monster Bowie!" Even larger than Dundee's Bowie, a real hand axe! Highly recommended and a fantastic value for the price. I give it a 10 rating and I own 3 of them now. Great companion to my M48 Tactical Tomahawk too.

Outstanding blade

Man just recived this knife in the mail and all I got to say is WOW!!!! This thing is giant also this is my first order on BudK and I love it. I might get 1 or 2 more just for the heck of it. I recommend this to anyone who collects or just uses knifes on a camping trip.

The shipping on this product was insanely fast. I received it within a few days of my order. Like most other purchasers, I thought I was prepared for the size and might of this wicked knife, but was ultimately taken aback by just how enormous the blade was after I removed it from its packaging. I actually called over my roommate when I saw how big the package was and said, "I want you to witness this. It's going to be nuts." Laughter soon ensued from the comically large size of the knife. Regardless, there were a few blemishes on the blade, but nothing a good ol' fashioned polishing won't get out. The blade came razor sharp, and I'm happy. It passed the paper-test (slices through it like a stick of warm butter) and was actually sharper than the Ka-Bar I used to open the packaging. Love the knife. I have no idea what its utility is, because it's so freaking huge, but I love the knife. Great purchase for $20.

Well, Bud K just possibly lost a long time customer with this huge Jolly Green Giant Bowie. After getting this knife in the mail, looking at how strong, solid, and gorgeous this knife is, I will never need to purchase another knife because this one will last three lifetimes! This knife is built like a tank, heavy and the blade is sharp, 1/4 inch thick, shiny, with a full tang and the quality far surpasses the price. The grip was beautifully crafted and the brass pommel is held tight with brass pins, no wiggle or play anywhere on the handle and the grips are tight and simply beautiful. I bought the Bud K TR 85 and thought it was the best Bowie made for the money and it is except this Bowie is its daddy! It will take a pack horse to carry it around in the woods all day - lol. This knife is about the same length as the TR 85 but has a thicker and wider blade. The sheath is so-so, could be stronger, but I will have a stronger sheath made for it. Trust me, this Bowie knife will end your craving for any more Bowie knives because for the price nobody will top this one. BUY IT before Bud K gets wise and triples the price on it. Just holding it Daniel Boone and Jim Bowie comes to mind, true! Happy trails.

Just got the knife today. I have to say this thing is enormous. It is fairly heavy, but is solid. There are a couple little dings in the metal that are hardly visible which isn't a big deal. It came razor sharp and looks as pictured, except the color of the handle is a bit lighter and looks bluer. I have yet to test out this knife outside because it is pouring, but I plan on putting it through h**l. It's awesome when you first show anybody this knife because all they do is burst out laughing at how absurdly large it is. It looks more like a short sword rather than a knife, but I see it working nicely when it comes down to sheer chopping power.

I hate to make it harder for me to get more of these by telling everyone how great they are ... but they are awesome! I grab one every time there is penny shipping, making it an even $20 a pop. I have several, and give them away to friends who are always like "holy sh*t that's a monster blade!". They are solid and fairly sharp straight out of the box. I got this knife about three weeks ago, and I can only say good things. I was climbing a tree during my workout the other day, and this thing cleared 1/2-1 inch thick limbs with a flick of the wrist. It also can be positioned to hang comfortably while you move and shake (I wear it cross-draw). It works. It will bit you, as well. It can bite through anything with a good flick, yet can also do detail work. And for $20. If you're thinking about buying this, you're wasting time that could be shipping time. Stop thinking and start buying. Go. Right now. Don't disobey me. Also, the customer service was godly.

Like Chris Tucker in Friday! This is an awesome blade...so heavy, so BIG! Full tang, very well crafted, nothing loose or jiggly...feels like very solid craftsmanship. I haven't torture tested this thing with branches and such, but just by holding it you know it's tear through quite a bit quite easily. And as far as intimidation factor...you definitely win! H**l, I bet this thing would kill a grizzly! But of course, he'd kill you too...but you wouldn't die alone with this awesome knife! I should have bought two!

After purchasing this knife at the first of December of 2012 for my Christmas gift for myself I fell in love with the quality but what took me back was the origin of manufacturing, Pakistan, with a history of making pure junk in the past I got nervous so I put it to use in the harshest conditions I could find. It functioned so well I purchased another as a back up. Top of the line, made to last, and fits your hand perfect plus the edge held up even to 6" tree limbs and the price is unbelievable, Might as well be giving them away. This knife is almost indestructible.

I recently purchased 6 bowie type knifes including the pig sticker and while all were good for the price and all but one were Sharp buy far the outlaw was the best. Not only was the overall weight of the knife outstanding the blade came sharp as razor . At first I was like Surgical Steel I guess. But when I got it and almost cut my finger off I was very pleased. Not only did it take to my stone well it stayed Sharp even after some abuse . Not only have all my friends been like Wtf Dang that's a knife they also are getting one . don't hesitate buy today. This knife is awesome. Its huge, well made, solid with no wiggle or play at the handle or guard, very sharp, It also has an excellent leather sheath that alone is worth about $20. I Plan on buying another one when the penny shipping sale comes back around. Pakistan is now making better quality knives than before. I'll also be looking into other large full tang knives from Timber rattler. I recommend this knife. Buy it. You wont be disappointed.

Ill admit it right off the bat and say I actually order this knife without seeing the size measurements. I had stayed up all night trying to find the right knife and comparing. Finally I saw this and just bought it. I wanted something I could wear around the yard and when I take walks back in the woods. When It arrived I was shocked. It was bigger then what I thought. I quickly thought "Well this isn't practical" After using it for about a month now I have realized it was one of the best purchases I have made! I can easily cut down small trees,and if I wanted to hack through any size tree. I can debark logs with ease. I keep mine strap to the front of my quad because when I am outside the quads always near me. I saw a couple reviews and all people did was b**ch about it being made in Pakistan. Its a knife,if that really makes you unhappy write it in your diary. Its a $20 knife.

the timber rattler outlaw and the ranch king bowie knives are great got mine in 3 days after ordering they held up great they arrived in excelant condition razor sharp i have choped 8 inch popular dry wood and batoned it and carved 9 to 10 fier boards with them both the sheaths are not the best but there not as bad as some would have you to belive i will be ordering a few more timber rattler bowies in the future im a hard core hunter and fisher and these knives will do the job easy to sharpen with a stone and hold a good edge for a long while and they have the lenght to chop the heads of snakes or snaping turttels all in all i would use them in a survival situation they are stainless and wont spark but i can live with that they would be great for makeing a shelter and the end of the blade would on either knive is great for skining you just have to get use to a realy big knive and the extra weight and you cant beat the price and the sirvice was great the people i talked to at budk took care of the mistakes i made when ordering with no problems im realy pleased with my knives highley recamend them for hunting fishing or survival even cutting tomatoe stakes or bean poles will make short work of any job you need a cutting tool for get one.

I have spent alot of money on big bowies in the past years and finding this one i wondered how good it would be for 20$.I soon found that the toughness of this knife was way more than i exspected. This knife is better than knives costing over 100$!!! If you dont get this amazing knife you will be sorry for many years to come .over all it is a must have .I give it a 5 star just because there isn't anymore to give it!!!!!

I really wasn't expecting much for the price, but read some good reviews and have to admit, I was a bit amazed when I got it. This is a heavy piece of steel! The sheath amazed me as much as the knife did. I love it! Great for anybody who's into knives. You can cut down a tree with this!

Timber Rattler Western Outlaw Bowie Knife is plain Awesome! Great for what I need and I highly recommend this knife to anyone. Just a great buy at a very low price the quality will speak for it self.

Heavy knife, thick blade, almost 1/4" thick and sharp. The quality is good but don't expect perfection at this price, knife is sturdy, good fitting parts, the blade and brass could use a bit more finish-work but over all the knife and sheath are great. I've been collecting knives for 30+ years and this knife is one of the best, budget bowies, Pakistan made knife's I've owned or even seen. Great for the beginer knife collector on a budget or anyone who enjoys collecting knives, it looks good and feels great, I really like it.

I have a lot of knives, even some cheap quality ones which I then rebuild to strengthen them. After reading the reviews here I decided to get this and see what all the raves were about. When I received it the thing was a huge sharp thick piece of steel and extremely well made, if it were any bigger it could be a machete or a Roman sword! What makes this knife great is the fact that it's a full tang blade and a very thick piece of steel. I normally like rubber type handled knives but the way this fits the hand is amazing and has a great grip configuration. It's a bit heavy but the balance cancels that out. It also came extremely sharp. The quality of the sheath is one of the best I've come across, it's strong, very well made and should last a very long time. It also fits the knife perfectly. The thing I've noticed from owning and handling many knives is that most that are made in Pakistan are very well made and this one was made in Pakistan. They have a long history of making high quality swords and knives and it shows here. This would make the perfect survival knife and I believe could handle any situation. If I had to bug out, this would be the first knife I grab. Highly Recommended!

Like everyone says, this is one HUGE knife. I was a little skeptical before I bought it because a 20 dollar knife means "don't expect much". I was wrong. This big bowie is an outstanding value. Full tang, mirror polish, 1/4" thick spine on the blade, and actually shaving sharp out of the box. I liked the first one so much that I bought two more. When I got the other two they were a little less perfect than the first one (one had some small chips out of the handle, and the other had some brass imperfections... but no big deal at $18 each). I really can't believe that these knives are this good at this low of a price. As others have said, the sheath is nothing special, but I think that they must have upgraded the sheath since the early reviewers got theirs. My sheaths are decently thick leather and the button strap is nice and thick. I have already investigated making my own heavier sheath when the factory one wears out. I would recommend this knife to anyone looking for a big knife.

I never cared much for those big, massive type knives before. I bought the Timber Rattler Western Outlaw Bowie Knife because it looked good, thick heavy blade, heavy duty leather shieth, and sharp enough right out of the box to shave the hair off of my arm. Did I mention the price? That was the main selling point to me. At the BUD K price even if it turned out to be a dud you would'nt be out much. Great Knife.

I own several Timber Rattlers and have not been dissapointed by any of them, however this one is the biggest and baddest of all I own. Came sharp out of the box, and is amazingly large and heavy (weight, as well as, well built, heavy). It takes lots of abuse with no damage and stays sharp. I liked it so much I bought a second one. If you don't mind a heavy knife, this one is for you. well worth the asking price! Thanks Budk

This Bowie is one of the best I have EVER seen!!! I LOVE this knife! 1/4" thick full tang blade? Yeah, you definitely can't go wrong there! This Bowie is beastly though, for sure... I previously bought a Winchester Bowie knife at Walmart for the exact same price (actually I used a code and got the one above discounted) and the Winchester knife is smaller, poorer quality steel, can't determine if it's full tang or not and it comes with one of those crappy nylon sheaths with the hard plastic insert... This knife is larceny! I still feel like I owe BudK money! But I don't... So stay away, BudK...

this Knife is A must buy! I was expecting some cheep Knife for only $20 bucks but I was wrong It has a huge blade with brass bolsters this thing will destroy any thing including metal objectS!

great knife when i first got my knife there was a huge chip on the tip but it came out after honing and a little sharpening it is a great knife The sheath is to thin for practical use but a great display piece I suggest buying or making a new one if you intend to go camping or hunting with this knife

When I ordered this, I expected it to be just a thin,flimsy display knife. It is anything But that! This is an absolute MONSTER of a knife! It is very heavy and can slash through anything. Definitely going in my bug-out kit. Get this knife!!

Great knife. Absolutely worth the price. It's much heavier than i expected, and much wider. The sheath is pretty nice, and the handle is nice detail. Few small smudges on the brass guard, but other than that a fantastic buy.

I've never held a knife this big in my hand before. Two words describe this knife, BIG and WOW! This is a lot of knife for the price. The many great reviews on this knife helped me decide that this was the one to purchase, thanks to all who took time to write one. Many complained about the leather sheath, but I am very impressed with it. I just bought my knife in September of 2012 so maybe they responded to the the older reviews with a better sheath. My advice, buy the knife!

This is a very impressive Bowie. It arrived very sharp right out of the box, with a good sheath. The only thing I do to any knife with a wooden handle is put 2 coats of Min Wax Polyurethane on tho bring out hte shine,and protect the wood. I also clean the knives with Goo Gone to remove the coat of protective spray the factory puts on the handle and the blade. Thanks again BuDK for another great knife, I'd recommend this knife to all collectors. I'm still waiting for the Timber Rattler EL Paso Bowie to become available!

This Bowie is quickly becoming my go to knife. It is heavy enough to be used to clear brush with a large enough handle for a good grip no matter your hand size, the weight is balanced enough for throwing but the hand guard will snap if hit too hard, so far that is the only flaw with this knife. It does come sharp out of the box and even if it didn't it has the weight to cut through what ever you need it to.

First time with Budk, this knife is a 10++ if you want a knife to scare your self this is it, I don't know what to say but WOW, the price is the best,it's sharp,big, and looks like a $100.00 + knife, if you don't buy this knife your nuts. Thanks Budk

Solid knife for the price. Heavy enough to do the tasks you need it to do if you plan on using it. Has a substantial feel in the hand, which is great. Only thing I didn't like were the markings on the back of the blade.

Extremely nice, inexpensive tool. Handy for camping, hunting, or any other wilderness activity. Don't buy a new sheath, just wrap the existing one with duct tape. Had my Rambo III and my Gerber BMF with me in Central America, Africa, and the Middle East (late '80s and early '90s). I have finally found, in the Timber Rattler, a knife that would have been worthy of joining them in my jump bag. NOTE:"Inexpensive" does not mean "cheap".

For the money, this is the best deal on a bowie that I know of. This knife is HEAVY, and built like a tank. Its one piece of almost quarter inch carbon stainless steel that comes up like a razor if you know what your doing. There are 3 big rivets on a 2 piece silver wood grip. If your into bowies, buy this one. Nice basket weave sheath too. You might need to re-enforce it, like I said, knife is HEAVY!!!

I recently received this knife and it certainly is heavy duty. It did lack some quality standards I would have liked to have seen but for the price it is well worth it. You could get higher quality knives but it would cost alot more.<br /> But what really impressed me is the followup on the part of True swords to actually call me in regards to this product and the companies reputation. Great heavy blade, feels like a short sword. Leather sheath need beefing up. Used nylon strapping from Wally world camping section, glued to front inside sheath around loop and down back of sheath with outdoor weatherproof contact cement also from Wally World. Used leather rivets around perimeter of sheath, helped a lot. Can't go wrong with price at less than $18.00.

This knife is flat out amazing, from the second I took it out of the box I fell in love with this giant knife. It has a razor sharp edge right out of the box good for any task whether your on a trek though the woods or mowing down zombies its a real bang for your buck! Thanks BUDK :D

I was pleased with this bowie. Looks a little worn, but I'm OK with that- makes it look tough. Very sturdy blade, haven't used it for anything but I don't doubt its capability.

AMAZING! This knife is a monster. The picture doesn't do it justice. It's enormous. It also came very sharp. I cut a pumpkin to shreds with almost no effort, it's so heavy you can basically drop it and it cuts right through. Fantastic buy, get it. ENORMOUS! More sword than knife.
